Our Policy
MDC Diamonds maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward conflict diamonds. We warrant that every diamond we sell is conflict-free, and we purchase exclusively from suppliers who adhere to Kimberley Process standards. Should we ever learn that a supplier is in violation, we would immediately sever that relationship.
The Kimberley Process
In 2000, a coalition of governments, non-governmental organizations, and diamond industry representatives came together to address the trade in conflict diamonds. Their work led to the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme, adopted in 2002 and written into United States law in April 2003.
The Kimberley Process is an international tracking and certification system that requires American retailers to purchase only from manufacturers who can document legitimate, conflict-free sourcing. U.S. Customs actively enforces these requirements at American ports of entry.
Since its adoption, the Kimberley Process has dramatically reduced the trade in conflict diamonds — today, over 99% of the world's diamond supply is sourced through conflict-free channels.
Diamonds & Local Communities
Diamonds are mined around the world, including in Australia, Russia, and Canada, and the industry provides meaningful employment and healthcare in many producing nations. For more information on responsible diamond sourcing, visit DiamondFacts.org.
